Fantastic experience! Toby, the owner of Hot Tubes, knows everything about bikes. He builds custom bicycles, does custom painting for Cervelo bicycles, and has a junior cycling racing team. He also donates a lot time and materials to working with college students looking to build new and innovative bicycles and other human-powered transportation. I have both purchased a bike from this company, and our college team was fortunate enough to have been sponsored by Hot Tubes for an engineering competition. I would highly recommend Hot Tubes to anyone looking for services pertaining to bicycles.
Toby took my ideas, made suggestions, and the result was the envy of everybody that saw the finished product.
Fast forward ~6 months later, I crashed this beautiful bike, and sent it back to Toby with cracked carbon, badly scratched head tube, and even what appeared to be a destroyed, rare head tube badge. Toby set my expectations low, saying that it would have "battle scars", but when it returned, nobody could see any repairs, including the 4K weave exposed carbon which he matched amazingly well!
The top tube on my Cervelo S3 was broken in a crash. Toby fixed the damage and repainted the frame beautifully. Great shop. Great people.
I used Hot Tubes after calling and interviewing several custom paint shops to paint my Serotta Ottrot. Most said that they didn't want to strip the paint from the carbon tubes, including Serotta / Saratoga Cycles, before they went OoB. Toby said that he could, and he did with amazing results.
